AYJGlobal is a Toronto District School Board initiative in which Ontario high school credits are offered to high school students who will be in Hong Kong during the summer of 2008. Instruction will be in English and will be taught by Ontario high school teachers.

One of the programs that we will be offering in the summer of 2008 is Co operative Education. Students applying for this program must meet the following criteria:

  1. be at least 16 years of age by December 2008
  2. have acquired at least 16 high school credits by June 30, 2008
  3. have demonstrated in their home school good attendance and punctuality
  4. have received positive references from two of their previous teachers

Students applying for this program are to complete the Co-operative Education Application forms found on this website and mail them to:

AYJGlobal Co-operative Education Program
100 Princess Avenue
Toronto, Ontario M2N 3R7

Students who apply for this program will be interviewed by the co-operative education teacher and then, if they are appropriate candidates, the students will be accepted into the program.

The program is in Hong Kong from July 14 - August 8, 2008.

Co-operative Education students will meet with their teacher in a school setting in a classroom environment in Hong Kong to learn "job readiness" skills. After this preliminary educational process, the student will be interviewed by a potential hiring organization who is involved in this program. Once the student has been accepted by the organization, the student will work for approximately three weeks, full days. During the work period, an employee of the organization will supervise and train the student(s) at the workplace. The work experience will be in an English speaking setting.

Along with the organization's supervision, the co-operative education teacher will periodically visit and monitor the student at the workplace. Students are evaluated based on their employer's evaluations, their teacher's evaluations and assignments and projects completed.
